When King Aldris III died without a clear heir—his eldest son claiming magical inability made him unsuitable for rule—the kingdom splintered into five distinct powers, each controlling vast territories and wielding influence through different means.

The Western Reaches, wild and untamed, are controlled by the scattered clans and tribes of the Old Blood—descendants of Thermometer’s original inhabitants.
